  • Do you have a printed catalog?
Do you have a catalog? Due to the custom nature of our business, we no longer provide catalogs. Catalog production is costly and would require constant updating to keep you abreast of our new items. In order to keep your cost to a minimum we have decided not to carry a print catalog at this time. The website provides a comprehensive listing of our product offerings and our customer service team is here to help. Or you may order a digital proof of your order if you would like to see it before it's shipped.
  • What is the significance of "Jumping the Broom" in African-American culture, and how does it play a role in weddings today?
"Jumping the Broom" is an important part of African-American wedding culture, with roots in Africa, and the Gullah culture of the Sea Islands off the coast of South Carolina and Georgia. The practice involves the couple jumping over a broom to signify their union in marriage and unite their families. This tradition was originally used as a symbolic way to bypass unfair laws against slave marriages but has since been integrated into modern-day weddings as a way to honor African-American heritage, culture, and ancestors. At African American Bridal we offer beautiful and unique wedding brooms and coordinating accesories made from quality materials like silk and dried floral, leather, satin, cowrie shells and ribbon to add an extra special touch to your wedding ceremony. Incorporating "Jumping the Broom" into your wedding day is a meaningful way to honor your heritage and continue the legacy of this significant African-American tradition.
